Two fours at Henley Women’s and Marlow

Last week, we travelled south for the Henley Women’s and Marlow Regattas. At Henley Women’s Regatta, our Women’s Aspirational Academic Coxless Four (Kirstin, Lydia, Skye and Morgan) reached the quarter-finals. This is a fantastic achievement for the girls’ final race together, and the perfect culmination of a year filled with outstanding achievements; becoming British, British University, Scottish and Scottish University Champions. Skye and Morgan are both graduating this week, and we wish them the best of luck in the future and with their future rowing careers.

Both squads spent two days training on the Henley stretch before the regattas, allowing them to get a feel for the course and settle their nerves. On the Friday, the girls completed a strong time trial and drew Sheffield University in the first round of Henley Women’s side-by-side racing. After winning their first round on the Friday, they progressed through to quarter-finals on the Saturday and only narrowly lost out on a place in the semi-finals against Glasgow University Boat Club.

We have reached the Henley Women’s Regatta AA 4- quarter-finals for the past three years. The competitive strength of Scottish universities was particularly obvious this year. Throughout the year, even at local events, we have been competing against some of the top crews in the country.

For the boys, it was an equally impressive performance. Our Men’s Championship Coxed Four (Campbell, Henry, Oscar, Chris and Holly) finished 4th in the B final of a highly competitive category.

Thank you to our Director of Rowing, Jordan Stanley, for his support and helping our athletes to reach these achievements. We are coming into the closing stages of our major match donation campaign, Project24. We want to reach £22,000 by Henley Qualifiers this Friday.
