One week after BUCS Head it was time to venture even further North for Inverness Head/Scottish Student Head and two days of racing on the Caledonian Canal. This was the first ever race for this year’s Novices, and a good opportunity for everyone to get out in multiple crews and combinations.

Wins came from the Men’s 4+ and Women’s 4x on Saturday morning, as well as a brave performance from the Women’s 8+ to place 4th of 6 despite equipment failure in the second half of the course. In the afternoon the Men’s 8+ placed first and the Men’s 4x second, and the two Women’s 4+ crews came first and second. More medals came for the women’s squad on Sunday as the Champ 2x, Inter 2x, Eight and Single all placed first, whilst the Men’s squad achieved a host of second places in a competitive field.

The novices also had a fantastic weekend, performing really well for their first time in a race environment. They showed great adaptability, racing in different combinations across four divisions and it was a really good learning experience and first introduction for all.

Overall, it was a very successful weekend for the whole club and almost every member of the senior squad came away with a win. A great way to finish the Head racing season, and we now look ahead to the summer and Regatta racing.
